The countdown is well underway with the Oceania BMX Racing Continental Championships 2nd February 2025. ENTRIES are now closed!
Following is some information that will hopefully assist all visiting riders from Australia to have a successful event.
ARRIVING INTO NEW ZEALAND
Many of you have done this before, but to remind you all, arriving into NZ can be interesting. Please make sure your bikes, tires and shoes are spotlessly clean. NZ Customs can be pretty strict.
TRANSPORT
Can arrive direct into New Plymouth Airport or New Plymouth is approx -
- 4 hours from Auckland International Airport
- 4.5 hours from Wellington International Airport
If you want a cargo van with space in the back for bikes U-Save & Hireace are good airport options. Then most rental companies will have SUVs or Station-wagon options. If you are flying in to New Plymouth, the blue button Tourism link at the end of the newsletter will assist you with local car rentals.

GAZEBO SPACE/HIRE
The Club has options for all riders, please contact them about gazebo/tent space email: npbmxrego@gmail.com All Championship class riders will have gazebos provided.
TRACK AVAILABILITY & OPEN GATE TIMES
New Plymouth BMX Club will post on the event facebook page a schedule leading up to the event.
INTERNATIONAL LICENCING
An International Riders Licence allows overseas riders who are not members of BMX New Zealand (BMXNZ) to enter events within New Zealand. BMX New Zealand - International Licensing (sporty.co.nz)
Riders with Nationality of New Zealand, Australia & Pacific Islands may enter.
UCI is giving a derogation to the riders to not wear their national team clothing at the Oceania Continental Championships in the disciplines of BMX Racing. Note that this derogation is valid for 2025 only.
EVENT REGISTRATION
As per the event guide please note there is the option to register for Oceanias late Saturday after the club race event or on the event morning. Event registration is purely roll across the transponder loop & checking your class and details on a screen, collecting your bike number plate.
