BMX New Zealand appoints new Executive Officer

Samantha (Sam) Jones, BMXNZ Executive Officer

BMX New Zealand is proud to announce the appointment of Samantha (Sam) Jones as our new Executive Officer.

Samantha brings over 15 years of leadership experience in national sporting organisations across New Zealand and Australia. Her career includes roles as CEO of Equestrian Australia and the New Zealand Pony Clubs Association, where she contributed to governance improvements, strategic planning, and the development of both grassroots and high-performance sport.

Her experience includes:

  • Supporting national restructuring efforts and securing significant funding from Sport NZ and the Australian Sports Commission
  • Developing accessible pathways for youth and para-athletes
  • Planning and delivering large regional and national sporting events
  • Developing and strengthening policies around integrity, health & safety, and shared operational services
  • Working with a wide range of stakeholders to build inclusive and engaged sporting communities.
     

Samantha’s focus on community sport, inclusion, and practical growth strategies is a strong fit with BMXNZ’s commitment to developing grassroots participation alongside elite performance. Her leadership will help us continue building strong relationships with our clubs, regions, and national partners.

We are pleased to welcome Samantha to the BMXNZ whānau and look forward to the contribution she will make to the future of our sport.
