UCI OCEANIA CHAMPIONSHIPS

The UCI Oceania BMX Racing Championships are being held in February at the Sleeman Supercross Track in Brisbane.
This is a great opportunity to test yourself against the best riders in Oceania and gain experience racing on the 2026 Worlds track.
All NZ licenced riders are eligible to enter. Please have your BMX NZ Digital ID handy at registration.

Riders to manage their own entries through the AusCycling entry system - Entry Boss and provide their own plates (UCI compliant). Further details on the event, plates and how to enter are in the Challenge Rider Travel Guide under INFORMATION on this page.
Please note: BMX NZ do not provide on the ground management resources for riders at the Australian leg of Oceanias.
EVENT DATES FOR PLANNING
Oceanias will run on 21 February incorporating the Championship and Challenge events. Followed by Round 1 of the Australian National Series on 22 February. The National Series meet is separate from Oceanias, and requires completing a second entry.

VIEWING SET UP
Please note: There will not be any dedicated NZ Rider gazebos provided at the race venue - Riders must provide their own if required.
AusCycling have advised that private gazebos may not be erected trackside due to ongoing site construction work in preparation for Worlds (mainly alongside the last straight) limiting space.
Any private gazebos will need to be set up in the carparks next to and behind the velodrome. A site map will be posted here when it is available from AusCycling.
A communal gazebo/marquee will be available to watch your riders' race but not to camp in all day.
PRE-OCEANIAS PRACTICE SESSIONS
Sleeman Race Venue
BMX NZ Sessions - Max of 60 riders per session
We have confirmed two track sessions for NZ riders on the Oceanias/Worlds Track on 18 February
Rider access to these track sessions is via the session booking form under APPLICATION FORMS on this page and requires prepayment. (NZD 25 per rider per session)
Open Sessions
AusCycling has just announced two open practice sessions on Friday 20th (AUD 10 per rider)
There may also be other open sessions during the week leading up to Oceanias. These will incur a cost per rider and should be booked directly with the session organisers. Details to follow.

PREPARING FOR OCEANIAS - RULE DIFFERENCES
AusCycling plans to use 2026 Oceanias as preparation for hosting Worlds in 2026. This will include running both the Championship and Challenge events based on the UCI Rulebook rather than the AusCycling or BMX NZ rulebooks you may be used to. Key differences to consider:
Challenge Age Groups Available
Oceanias will offer only the UCI age groups announced by UCI on 7.10.2025
Standard 20 Inch age group categories for Worlds are as follows:
Cruiser 24-Inch age group categories for Worlds are as follows:
Riders licensed in the Masters category level for Standard 20 Inch may participate in the Cruiser 24-inch category corresponding to their age.
Plates
As per the event Techical Guide, plates will be provided for Championship riders only. Challenge riders must provide their own plates for Oceanias,.
Plate colours and formats are the same as NZ with the exception of sprocket riders who ride with Orange plates – NZ white sprocket plates are allowed however.
NZ, NI and SI ranking plates are not permitted however, Challenge riders with a current World or Oceania ranking may ride their W or O plate,
Uniform and Branding
UCI rule: 6.1.097
Only Elite riders who received a UCI International Elite Number through the UCI or Elite riders with a world number 1 - 8, may print a UCI International Elite Number or world number 1 - 8 on the back of the jersey if they choose. The UCI International Elite Number is not to be applied at any other location or onto any other item of clothing or safety equipment such as the pants or helmet. No other riders are allowed to print a number on the back of their jersey.
UCI Rule: 6.1.084
... only riders having won the title of National Champion in the Championship level categories are permitted to use a jersey with a distinctive sleeve as described in article 1.3.069. No riders in other categories are permitted to do so (either sleeve).
UCI Rule: 6.4.011
The title of “UCI BMX Racing World Challenge Winner” does not entitle the holder to in any way represent themselves as a “BMX Racing World Champion”, nor to use a replica of the World Champion’s jersey, nor to in any way incorporate the rainbow colours into his/her clothing or equipment.
